Geocaching in Los Alamos

IMGP0998.JPG

The cache appears to be in a canyon. This park seems to be the best point of public access.

IMGP0999.JPG

Moving through the field the edge of the canyon comes into view.

IMGP1000.JPG

The cache appears to be less than 300 meters away, over there.

IMGP1001.JPG

A path appears going down steep rocks. One of the challenges geocashing here is the changes in elevation.

IMGP1002.JPG

The cache appears to be over the edge of this cliff...

IMGP1003.JPG

When an outcrop of rock appears. It seems to be accessable.

IMGP1005.JPG

The GPS reads 5 meters but the question is where?

IMGP1006.JPG

Eureka! I spot a foreign object in the rocks.

IMGP1007.JPG

Upon futher inspection, it is an official Geocache container!

IMGP1008.JPG

Inside the container we find many small items. We took the blue alien while leaving a plastic Simpsons figure.

IMGP1009.JPG

View looking east from the cache. Sangre de Cristo mountains in the distance.

With the geocache well hidden, we can leave knowing the next visitor will find a similar challenge.
